Phoenix, AZ – Today, the Arizona Governor’s Office of Resiliency (OOR) and the Institute for Rural Collaboration (IRC) with support from Southwest Decision Resources (SDR) released a comprehensive report summarizing how local governments can build new, utility-scale renewable energy, energy infrastructure, and large load facilities. This report supports Governor Katie Hobbs’ Arizona Energy Promise Taskforce recommendation to build community support for energy project development through proactive engagement efforts.

The report, Collaborating to Advance Arizona’s Energy Economy: Statewide Workshop Findings and Recommendations, addresses challenges facing Arizona’s energy landscape, including rising demand driven by population and industrial growth. and delays in federal permitting that threaten over 173,000 jobs and billions of dollars in potential investment. Meeting these challenges requires moving beyond technical feasibility to include transparent processes and meaningful local influence.
